This Child of wind and night,
teller of tales in pictures and sounds,
bursts now and for good the fetters of cold banality,
dreary pretentiousness and ugly, inefficient design
in which yesterday's fireplaces have confined it
for so long.
The fire now is transformed,
our desire is to welcome this prodigal child
as a privileged guest,
an old and cherished friend,
a beloved companion
whose place is in our midst.
By hanging our fireplaces from ceilings,
by letting them rotate and follow us
to where we want to be,
by having them emerge from walls,
by seeing them as living sculptures,
we have established the fire
as a focal point of our daily life.
Furthermore, our love of a fire
has naturally led us to create forms
which are a far cry from mere ephemera,
to bring contemporary ideas to the tradition of the fire
to make simple and rigorous geometrical designs
which are in themselves
the embodiment of passion and vitality.
